There is only one way to get
termites in your home in Alabama. To use a catchy line from the movie
“Field of Dreams”, “If You Build it, They Will Come”. Yes, it’s
true. Sooner or later, “if no control measures are employed”,
termites will attack all homes or structures in Alabama. No structure
is immune.
How property owners choose to
combat these “eager eaters of wood” is widely divided along the lines
of treatment methods available to professionals or choose to do
nothing at all. In fact, some property owners think that because
their building has been constructed of metal and concrete they don’t
have to worry about termites. This is simply not true. Termites
enter metal and concrete buildings just as well as others and cause
damage to stored goods and interior wall systems made of wood,
plasterboard or drywall.
The economic impact of
subterranean termites in the South has been widely documented and
publicized. The number one cause of damage to homes in America is
foundation decay, of which termites play a part. More homes in
America are damaged by wood destroying organisms than fires or floods
and the cost of their repair are in the Billions of dollars annually.
How do I tell the difference between a Termite and a
Ant?
